Canada Day - Out Sidney Way.












Coming from the nation's captial, Ottawa, one is

Wrong.
For a small town of 11,000 Sidney goes all out and puts on a 'do' that compares favourably with Canada Day celebrations!
It all started off Friday evening with a pipe-band, speeches, and live music on the waterfront, followed by fireworks over the ocean. On both Saturday and Sunday mornings there was a pancake breakfast, followed by a midway and sidewalk sale. Saturday saw a huge parade that took 1.5 hours to pass! There were all kinds of floats, antique cars, military and municipal displays of vehicles, bands, and floats.

All in all it was a great family weekend down in




So, in all it was sun, bun and fun for everyone!!

Great pictures!! One has to wonder why a community like Sidney, so far from the heart of Canada, has such a patriotic spirit? Guilt at having such a moderate climate, perhaps?
Definitely not a place populated by marine engineers...
Glad to see that you are still publishing on your blog. However, I suggest that you might want to show the pictures of the rain, and the rinses and hats. We need to keep all of the good stuff secret or every Tom, Dick and Harry will want to move here. It is a good thing you bought a few years ago before we stopped Easterners (everything east of the Rockies) from staking claims on the Island.
